A native Floridian who moved north from South Florida as a young child, Cathy has deep roots in the Gainesville area. Her mother was a special education teacher who graduated from the University of Florida and her father was a US Air Force veteran who had a long and successful career in real estate as a broker, contractor, developer, and president of the Ocala Marion County Association of Realtors. Real estate sales and management, including new construction and development, have been influencing themes on both sides of Cathy’s family, so it was only natural that she would eventually follow a similar path.
Cathy grew up in Gainesville and was a graduate of Gainesville High School, where her extracurricular activities on the debate team taught her negotiation and discussion skills that have been very useful over the course of her life. As a young woman who loved nature, animals, linguistics, and world cultures, Cathy studied biological parks, ecological systems, world religions, and creative writing while in college. Later, she would go on to study early childhood development and become a Certified Developmental Parenting Educator.
As a young adult, Cathy relocated for a few years to Asheville, NC, where she obtained her first real estate license and enjoyed selling property in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Upon returning to Gainesville, Cathy went back to school to achieve her Florida real estate broker license, which she has now had for more than 20 years. During the course of her real estate career, Cathy has gained experience in residential resale and new construction, single family and multi-family property management, and commercial sales and leasing. Her past certifications and licensing have included specialties in new construction sales and community association management.
Cathy loves helping people reach their goals, especially when it involves turning a house into a family home. She is very grateful for her own family, and to have two wonderful sons. Her oldest owns a successful food service and transport company, and is the father of two beautiful girls. Her youngest is a doctor of developmental psychology. In her free time, Cathy enjoys family and friends, nature hikes with her dog, local community events, and exploring diverse cultures and cuisines. As a member of the Charles S. Peirce Society, Cathy also leads a local discussion group that focuses on the work of Charles S. Peirce and the encouragement of respectful dialogue between people of different worldviews and perspectives. Recognizing and appreciating the beauty in life’s simple pleasures is a theme that has stayed with Cathy throughout her life.
Integrity, high ethical standards, ingenuity, and diligence are professional traits to which Cathy is strongly committed. Contact Cathy today to get started on reaching all of your real estate goals.
