George is a life-long Gainesville resident. He graduated from Gainesville High in 1969 and from Santa Fe Community College in 1972. He served in the Army Reserves from 1972-1978. George returned to college in 1996 and earned his BS in Business from the University of Florida.
As an entrepreneur, George was the owner of Rafferty Research and Development, Inc. The company’s purpose was to offer an incubation facility for inventors to work, including a fully operational machine shop. At that time George helped establish GAIN, Gainesville Area Innovation Network and worked on many inventions, mostly in the medical field.
George has extensive experience in the Industrial/manufacturing arena and has held leadership roles in those organizations, most recently as Plant Manager of a modern, high-speed manufacturing plant. Earlier experience in his family’s machine shop, Rafferty Machine and Tool, Inc. helped him develop some of the basic business principals of Quality, Customer Service, Competitive Pricing, and Respect for those you work with. This experience gives him insight into customers looking for a broad range of property types.
For several years George did residential and commercial real estate for Saxon Realty where he worked with a broker who was a long-time friend.
His knowledge of this community and his experience in business, real estate, and community service integrates well with his association with Coldwell Banker M.M. Parrish Realtors.
George married his high school sweetheart, Laura (Terrell) in 1972, and they live in Gainesville. They have 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Most if his spare time is spent with family and friends.
